According to this theory, these similarities mean that the old woman is actually Ego's mother.

In this theory's timeline, Ego grew up in that house in the countryside with his mother, who would cook ratatouille for him. Years later, it's Ego's childhood home that Remy sneaks into to watch cooking shows, and we can probably assume Remy ends up watching Ego's mother cook, as well.
